Case study 1: Lost detection and Hip fracture demand
Script: A 67 -year -old woman was at risk of osteoporosis when she consulted her primary medical care provider. The supplier did not recognize that the patient was at risk and, therefore, did not order a DXA exploration.
Two years later, this patient suffered a hip fracture, which required surgical intervention and long -term rehabilitation. She filed a demand for medical negligence, claiming that the supplier did not diagnose the patient with osteoporosis.
Result: The court defends that the doctor did not follow USPSTF standards and caused damage as a result of negligence.
- Risk mitigation Advice: Regardless of whether the patient refuses to evaluate, always perform the risk assessment and document detection decisions.
