Arduino Porta Powers Smart Lifting Monitoring System

Arduino Powers smart elevator monitoring system

Thanks to Arduino’s team for highlighting this: it is a monitoring system that measures both the quality of the interior air and the occupation. It is an application note, of a Christopher Méndez, which involves a proto of Arduino Porta to implement the system. And specifically addresses use in an elevator.

Arduino Porta

Specifically, the described system tells people within the elevator using artificial vision. Provides real -time visual feedback on air quality conditions using moduline pixels. And share the data collected to the Arduino cloud for remote monitoring.

In his heart is the Zmod4410 sensor that is within a sense of Nicla Sense. A gas sensor module is designed to detect total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), estimate CO₂ and monitor inner air quality (IAQ) …

And there are a number of energy options. It can be feed using the terminal block in the middle carrier of portenta, the USB-C connector in the H7 portenta or the barrel cat in the protector of the average carrier.

You can see a system fritzing diagram below.

Operation

As Menitoned, you will need a proto portenta kit, which includes (among other things) a Nicla Sense env modules, a Nicla Vision model, a Mid portenta bearer and the portenta H7.

The elevator monitoring system integrates sensor data collection, artificial vision, live users’ feedback and cloud connectivity through the Wi-Fi® Portenta H7 connection.

Porta H7 is responsible for Nicla Sense ship’s sensor readings, receives occupants of the Nicla vision through I2C, which shows the state of air quality in the modulin pixels and communicates with the cloud.

The Nicla vision is the second system in models (SOM) of the project that works exclusively to detect faces in the elevator, counting them and informing the count to the H7.

The Nicla Sense Env is a sensor shield that must be under the control of a host, in this case by the Portenta H7. It houses several environmental sensors.

You can download the complete project sketches from the same location.

How could you extend the project more? The author suggests some ways. For example, add a modulin bell to alert audibly if the elevation occupation exceeds the limit or if the air quality deteriorates. O Integrate the 4G Arduino Module for cellular communications, to admit implementations without Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity …
