Abstract
A new species of the genre Diploderma Hallowell, 1861 of the County of Qiaojia, city of Zhaotong, northeast of the province of Yunnan, China, is described. Phylogenetically, the new species is placed within the D. Splendidum Complex and has genetic distances of 7.3% and 7.5% of D. splendidum (Barbour and Dunn, 1919) Sensu stricto and daduense Cai, Liu & Chang, 2024, respectively, based on the sequences of the ND2 gene. Morphologically, the new species looks a lot D. Splendidum strict sensu and D. DaduenseHowever, it can be distinguished from D. Splendidum Sensu strict as it has a larger body size in relatively shorter men and limbs, and can be differentiated from D. Daduense having a relatively narrower head in the relatively shorter men and extremities in men. In addition, the new species differs from D. Splendidum strict sensu and D. Daduense Having different colorations, especially in the absence of transverse stripes in the dorsal head. This study also revealed that D. Splendidum Sensu Lato is a complex that contains multiple species and that more research is needed to clarify the taxonomy of the complex.
