Scientists serve communities through a deeper understanding of our world, which leads to improvements in our health, environment, security and more. Recent management policies threaten the ability of scientists to do this work in the United States, but Scientists are not taking these threats used. They are ready to defend science and show the value that their research has to society, even when a slightly different approach and ability are needed than what they learned in the postgraduate school.

And scientists are being heard. AGU is working to help them support them Agu days of actionA series of events and opportunities that show strong support for sustained investment in land and space sciences and highlighting the dangers of reducing research financing and weakening the United States Federal Force.
Recent Agu days of action Events and results:
- April 14-25: The scientists requested more than 100 meetings with members of Congress and made 135 telephone calls to the offices in support of science during the recess of the April Congress.
- June 3-4: AGU organized 97 scientists from 30 states who held 127 Congress meetings in Washington, DC. Many Congress offices were very solidarity, such as Senator Mark Kelly (AZ-D), who will share the story of a constituent scientist on the Senate’s floor.
- All June: An additional 119 people made 82 telephone calls and sent 354 emails to their members of the Congress during AGU action days through the AGU Science Policy Action Center.
