While there are more streaming services than ever, Netflix is likely one of the first you think of. From Stranger Things to Squid Game, the streaming giant has consistently attracted millions of subscribers, but if you’re watching on an older iPhone or iPad, you may need to upgrade to get your next binge fix.
The Netflix app will soon no longer support iOS 16 or iPadOS 16, according to MacRumors. That means you’ll need to update to iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 to continue using the app, but older devices won’t be able to make that jump.
Notably, the 2017 iPhone X and iPhone 8 models will stick with iOS 16, as will anyone using the original iPad Pro.
Netflix will not work soon on these devices
The complete list of affected devices is as follows:
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone
- iPad (5th generation)
- iPad Pro (1st generation)
While you, the discerning iMore reader, have probably updated since those devices were released, it might be worth informing family members of their options to avoid being left stranded without Wednesday, Money Heist, or Bridgerton.
Netflix recently stopped allowing users to pay for their subscriptions through the App Store to avoid Apple cutting payments.
