The Mac mini’s upgradeability has varied over the years. Models from 2012 and earlier were the gold standard, with upgradable RAM and storage. The 2014 model had upgradeable storage, but no RAM. The 2018 had RAM slots, but lacked upgradeable storage.
When the M1 mini shipped, nothing could be updated. And while Apple doesn’t strictly approve of SSD upgrades on the Mac mini M4, it’s at least possible.
