Freedom Mobile reduces Byop credit in all plans

Freedom Mobile has reduced the discount that applies to the plans to bring its own phone (byop), effectively increasing plan prices in $ 1/month in all areas.

The wireless supplier has offered a BYOP discount inside and outside for months. In general, the discount was $ 4/month, but as of June 12, that discount is now $ 3/month. It is still a continuous loan whenever customers are in an eligible plan.

Interestingly, the small print for the offer on the Freedom website still mentions the value of $ 4, while the plans themselves show the new credit value of $ 3 and the associated prices. (Update on June 13, 2025 at 9:20 am et: Freedom has now updated the small print to say $ 3, confirming that the change was not a mistake).

The plans with the Byop discount are the following:

  • $ 36/60GB CAN/US/MEX
  • $ 46/80GB CAN/US/MEX
  • $ 56/100GB CAN/US/MEX
  • $ 66/150GB CAN/US/MEX

The other freedom plans do not have an applied byop discount.

While in general it is a small change, it is still frustrating to see that prices are slowly settle. Freedom prices are still ahead of most other Canadian suppliers, which is good, but these small increases add over time.
