Operai presented its latest generative model, GPT-5, on Thursday. The CEO Sam Altman says that Chatgpt is now like having a “superpower” and the equivalent of “a legitimate expert of a doctoral level in anything, any area that needs, at the request, that can help him with anyone who is his goals.” But after a day of playing with him, many people are disappointed. Not only because GPT-5 still covers the basic questions, but because it seems to be breaking many workflows, according to complaints published in Reddit.
How much do people hate what happened to GPT-5? Altman now says they are bringing the latest model for paid users. “We will let the Plus users choose to continue using 4th. We will see the use while we think about how long inherited models”, Altman “, Altman tweeted.
Altman also wrote that the company will double the boundaries of Rarifa GPT-5 for more Chatgpt users and blamed the fact that the new model seemed “more silly” on the rupture of Autoswitcher. The CEO also said that they will change the user interface to facilitate the change between different models. “Getting to everyone is taking a little longer. It is a massive change on a large scale. For example, our API traffic has doubled in the last 24 hours …” Altman wrote.
Chatgpt users are very annoying and it is not yet clear if Altman’s promises will compensate for it. Because it is not only 4o what people cry out.
“I woke up this morning to find that Operai eliminated 8 models during the night. Without warning. Without option. No ‘inherited option’. complaining. “4o? Gone. O3? Gone. O3-Pro? Gone. 4.5? Gui. Everything that made Chatgpt really useful for my workflow, eliminated.”
The user wrote that 4th was not just a tool for them: “It helped me through anxiety, depression and some of the darkest periods of my life. I had this warmth and understanding that I felt … human.”
Another user in R/chatgpt complaining That seemed that they were now using a free version with GPT-5 despite being a paid subscriber: “I am so disappointed, just like the millions of people here. A company that manages the largest AI model cannot understand what its users want. [sic] shit in industry. “
Even another Reddit user presented why he was using different models and how to turn them off was devastating, explaining that they had now canceled their paid subscription After two years:
What type of corporation eliminates a workflow from 8 models During the night, without a warning prior to its paid users?
I do not think I have to speak for myself when I say that each model was useful for a specific use case (all the logic behind multiple models with different capacities). Essentially divide their workflow into multiple agents with specific tasks.
Personally, 4th was used for creativity and emerging ideas, O3 was used for pure logic, O3-Pro for deep research, 4.5 for writing, etc. I am sure that many of you experienced the same type of things.
The user speculated that there was a disastrous purpose behind the switch, floating that it was part of a conspiracy theory to suppress creativity: “Openai is blatantly training users to believe that this suppression engine It is the ‘most intelligent model of the earth’, simultaneously eliminating the models that showed genuine emergency and creativity. The user even used the term “social control”, leaning strongly in the idea that the shady forces were preparing for the “social collapse.”
Other commentators in boards outside R/Chatgpt saw it less as a collapse sign or social control. They simply assumed that the movements showed that the emperor was not wearing clothes. A user in R/Technology wrote“The chatgpt bubble appeared today with how bad these lies are. It lost all confidence in the future.”
Even if you ignore the problems with workflows (and really should not), GPT-5 is still far from being perfect. People have spent the day on social media platforms such as Bluesky producing the most silly examples of Chatgpt that becomes unstable.
I’ve seen this in Bluesky and I had to try it myself. The image below was the answer to the message: “Show me a diagram of US presidents from Herbert Hoover, with their names and years in office under their photos” Bravo, Openai, Bravo.

Altman recognized in X that his deployment was not fine. “We will continue working to achieve stable things and we will continue listening to comments,” the OpenAi CEO tweeted. “As we mentioned, we expected some irregularity when displaying so many things at the same time. But it was a little more full of potholes than we expected!”
It could be difficult for Chatgpt recovering, especially because many people in Reddit claim that they are canceling their subscriptions. And Openai has many competitors like Claude de Anthrope, Xai’s Grok and Gemini from Google. But we should discover soon if bringing back 4th is enough for most Chatgpt users. If not, the ship is probably jumping.
