Founders’ Takes is a new series that presents expert ideas of technological leaders that transform industries with artificial intelligence. In this edition, Steven Kleinveld, founder of Applied Ai Lab Lab LarkHe argues that Vibos coding will not replace developers, will update them.
Lately there has been much talk that AI will replace developers. With the increase in tools that allow you to advance the construction of applications, people begin to wonder: “Are developers still need?” The short answer: yes, more than ever.
The exaggeration around the code and “vibos coding” makes it appear that anyone can build a solid MVP during the night. And of course, tools such as the adorable, Bolt and Canva code are excellent to try ideas quickly. But once things become more complex, these tools hit a roof …
He still needs someone to know how things really work: Back -End logic, data flows, design systems, UX decisions. The things that make a product good, not just functional. That’s where developers enter, and not any developer, but those who know how to work with Ai, it doesn’t fear.
This is not the end of developers. It is a change in how they work. It is well documented that the LLMs such as Claude de Anthrope, Gemini of Google and Chatgpt of OpenAi have improved dramatically. As a result, the quality of AI tools has shot, allowing developers to work with superhuman efficiency, more and more valuable. This moment in technology is not about replacing developers; It’s about how they evolve.

AI will not replace developers. But developers who use the ones will replace those who do not
To be clear, AI is incredible to take care of repetitive things: generate code fragments, fill the boiler, even give an advantage in an front part. But that does not mean that I can build a reliable, safe and scalable product from scratch.
As CEO of Skylark, an applied Laboratory, I am very aware of how fast the field is evolving. But it will continue to be years before the models of the three elements dominate: reliability, safety and scalability, without a human in the loop.

The true winners in this wave of AI? Developers who know how to work with him.
If you are a backend developer, AI can help you with the front-end tasks that you have less confidence. If you have full battery, you can use it to accelerate your workflow and concentrate on the difficult pieces you enjoy. It is like having a really fast assistant, but he still needs to be the one who directs the ship.
The key is to know what you are good, what you are not and where you can fill the gaps. That is what makes a developer “expert in AI”. And in my opinion, that is becoming one of the most valuable skills that exist.
Vibra coding is fun, but it won’t take you all the time
We have all seen the tendency to incite an AI to “simply build this” and expect it to work. It’s fast, it’s playful and sometimes it is surprisingly good. But it can also lead to what I call ‘AI Drift’: when your product slowly moves away from your original idea because AI begins to add unnecessary characteristics or misunderstand what you want.
This is where experienced developers make a difference. They know when something is off. They know when to stop AI and fix things. They know how to detect errors or security problems that the AI was lost. Non -technical people often lose these signs, and that is where things can break, quickly.
No, AI is not replacing developers. Give the best extra team.
Of course, not all founders will be technical. But even the founders who are not technology should understand how AI works and, more importantly, what are their limits. Knowing how to cause an AI is one thing. Knowing when the output is incorrect is a completely different skill.
In a nutshell: AI is a tool, not a replacement
Developers who learn to work with AI will only become more valuable. They will build faster, smarter and with fewer people, but will continue to be the ones who conduct the process.
So, if you are a developer who wonders if AI comes for your work, I would say: Don’t worry. Simply familiarize yourself with the tools, stay sharp in your skills and discover how you can improve it.
This is not the end of the road, it is a new chapter. And developers are still the main characters.
