Time flies when you are no longer solving problems with your wifi. Last February, I made the decision to update my Wi -Fi system of Velop Linksys and take the advice of so many, and go to Unifi from Ubiquiti. At that time, I familiarized myself with the fact that I had overcome the consumer networks team and needed something more robust and could handle the large number of devices I had in my house. My change a Unifi I solved all my network problems, and honestly, I don’t think about it again (as it should be).
Unifi is like a drug

Like anything that works and facilitates life, you tend to want more. While my initial investment in a A unifi dream machine (router) and two UNIFI ACCESS POINTS I solved all my wifi problems, I couldn’t stop there. I started looking at everything that invented my network and asked if replacing those elements would be even better.
I changed to all unifi switches

A network switch allows you to connect multiple devices connected to Ethernet to share the unique Internet connection that enters a room. He had six dumb switches (without administering) of different manufacturers, such as TP-Link, Netgear and Trendnet. While they worked well, I could not handle them from a central interface to see what was connected to them and how those devices worked. For the average domestic user, this is not a concern. You connect something, and it works or not; If so, you forget that. However, once I saw how good it was to see the devices connected to each port in the Dream Machine is in its web user interface, I had to have more of that! One by one, I ended up replacing all my Ethernet switches with Unifi some. I LOVE IT! I love being able to administer everything from an interface.
Please give me the speeds I am paying!

My current Internet provider is Xfinity, and my plan is for 1,200 Mbps down/35mbps. The problem is that you will never see that 1,200Mbps down if your network and WiFi devices are limited to 1GB Ethernet. As I was already replacing my switches, I thought this was also a good time to update the fastest too. I ended up obtaining some of its 10GBE switches and a couple of the new 2.5GBE business switches. This allowed me to have Ethernet of 2.5 GB in each room for computers and 10GB Ethernet for my Synology DS 1522+ NAS, as well as our Apple Studio, which has 10 GB of incorporated Ethernet.

I already had one Unifi Enterprise wifi 6e access pointAnd I ended up obtaining its Wi -Fi 6e access point on the wall, as well as its new Unifi Wifi 7 Pro access point. Each of these has a 2.5 GB Ethernet port to enable faster Wifi 6E and 7 speeds. This has been worthwhile in my iPad professionals and new iPhone 15 professionals, who have WiFi 6E. My next MacBook Pro will also have WiFi 6e or 7. While 1,200mbps is really not much faster than 1,000Mbps (1 GB Ethernet speeds), I am planning the future when I will have the Internet faster, and in the meantime, transferring files in my network becomes much faster.

Fiber Internet is being implemented!

With luck, within next month or two, I can register on the Internet of fiber, which is finally being implemented in my neighborhood. Plan to register in your 2 GB down/up plan. This is another reason that I started to update my switches and access points. Having faster Internet speeds will not matter if your network equipment has a 1 GB limit. I am ready to take advantage of those 2 GB Internet speeds. I upload a lot of large content, like 4K Videos to YouTube. Having a faster load speed is music for my ears.
I replaced all the security cameras of my home

I made a blog about that here. Once I saw how well the things of the network worked, I wanted more. I decided that it was time to bite the bullet and replace the various different cameras that had of Ring, Google, Eufy and Logitech with unifi protection cameras, including my new Unifi Pro G4 bell and its digital bell. Investing in a Unifi nvr That gave me the greatest advantage because I wouldn’t have to pay Google’s subscriptions. All my images are recorded and stored locally 24/7. This also reduces Internet bandwidth. Everything only works. I LOVE IT!

LTE’s backup keeps me into operation

A few months ago, I was in an important online meeting and they introduced me. Right in the middle of the introduction, I noticed the person who was speaking only frozen. I wondered if something had happened on his part. It turns out that at that time, my Xfinity Internet went out. Fortunately, I thought quickly, I joined my iPhone meeting and I could present my part. However, this really shook me, and I knew I needed a backup copy of some kind. Unfortunately, for now, the only viable Internet provider in my area is Xfinity. The Internet fiber cannot come quick enough. Meanwhile, I chose to obtain the uniform backup. This small device is connected to the network, and if the main internet falls, it changes to the wireless Internet AT&T LTE automatically. The transition is perfect, and the entire network remains in operation. Okay, it is a slower speed, and I would love to bring a 5G version, but for now, it is fine and has already paid for itself on a couple of occasions. When you can obtain fiber Internet, the XFinity service will become my backup, since the Dream is unifi machine has two WAN ports so that you can have a primary and backup internet service.
That! A new cable modem too?

Recently, Unifi launched a cable modem. I already had my own Motorola modem cable that was working well. There was no great advantage in going with the Unifi cable modem, apart from administering it in the same user interface as all other unifi gears and being able to ride it.
Bonus Council:

I have been using these Ethernet Flat Flat 6 cable cables more frequently and I still don’t have to have a failure or disappoint me. You can see them here.
The final result

Am I happy with my change to Unifi? ABSOLUTELY! Have I bought more than what I really needed “? Yeah! Does it bring me pure joy? Yes, everything I don’t have to think about my network, which is never! Is unifi perfect? At all. I had a switch, just plain die. It was replaced under guarantee without problems. I would like they offered an anticipated replacement program to be able to give them a credit card, and during the night of the replacement. In fact, I am surprised that they do not offer this. Are they the best network equipment I have used? Without a doubt! Would you have done something different if you had to do again? Yes, I would have opted for the best POE switch of 24 Enterprise ports with 2.5gbe ports instead of the one who obtained, which only has 1gbe ports. It would probably also have obtained a second access point of U6 Enterprise instead of the U6 Long Range Pro. I say this because the U6 LR Pro has no WiFi 6e support. At this point, I do not want any access point that cannot do wifi 6e or wifi 7. I ended up placing the U6 LR Pro on the front porch to handle the bell, the front door lock and other devices near the front of the house that do not require wifi 6E speeds. Do I regret? Yes, I would like to have made the change two years before. I wasted a lot of time and effort trying to solve my problems with the team that was not designed to handle the workload. I could have saved that time if I had heard everyone telling me that Unifi was the way to follow.
