You do not need to be a scientist or philosopher of the facts, the reality and the truth to import. The alternative is known simply as shit.

What is the damage in a small white lie? What is the damage to telling a story that is more convincing, entertaining or convincing than real truth? What is the damage in exaggeration or hyperbole, or when trying to persuade others of a position that is contrary to reality?

Most of us do these things all the time, often for our own personal benefit or to reduce our potential responsibility. We lied to our loved ones about our activities, seeking not to get into trouble for our actions. We discard solid evidence based on facts that contradicts our preferred narratives and conclusions, while we raise and emphasize stories that may not be true, but that agree with our preconceived ideas. And if we are looking for attention, empathy, the adulation of others or to cause strong feelings at our audience, we could make statements designed to arouse those answers precisely, without taking into account if what we are saying is truthful or not.

We often think that the opposition of truth is a lie, but that is not entirely correct. On the other hand, the opposite of being married to a reality based on evidence based, where the truth …
