Rowing pool science experiments

The last two days have been so hot in the United Kingdom that we have had the rowing pool, so it seemed the perfect time to try some Water -based research.

For each mini investigation, I asked the children a question, and then we discussed what we thought would happen and why.

I also have many pools without rowing Water experiments You can try!

Five things to investigate in your rowing pool

Will the sun make the water heated?

My five -year -old son thought that the sun would heat the water if we would leave the water in the rowing pool during the hottest part of the day. We did not use a thermometer since it did not have one by hand, but that would have been a good idea in retrospect.

We discovered that the water was much warmer if the rowing pool was filled in the morning and went to the sun for a few hours instead of simply and used immediately.

Can you make a boat move?

We use a small plastic boat. Z tried to move it initially blowing, which worked well, but discovered that he could make him move much faster by placing the farm behind him. We had a lot of fun doing the boat race around the pool.

Another idea is to do and try your Boats made of recycled materials.

Will the water level increase if we all sit in the pool?

We decided that the water level would increase, but the children could not tell me why. So we tried it, and the water rose a little. Do you know why this is?

Everything is reduced to Archimedes principle!

Will a heavy ball float?

Everyone thought the heavy ball would sink, but floated!

If you can find a ball that sinks, try to cover it with a bubble wrap. Now I should float, since adding bubble wrap makes it less dense.

Objects must be less dense than water to float.

More science in the rowing pool

Try to do Boats with aluminum foil and investigating how many coins can put before they sink.

Mix sand with a little water in a small pot or tray and leave under the sun while splashing. The water will evaporate, leaving only the sand.

Freeze some Plastic fish in ice cubes With a rope and do some pool fishing!

Make a small toy figure floating

Use house materials to make a Little Floating Toy Figure!

Superhero toy and a selection of materials to help you float for a scientific challenge

Can you think of more science for the rowing pool?
