If you need a way to stay online when the power goes out, you’ve probably considered purchasing a portable power station. What’s even smarter is to buy one that’s on sale for almost half off.

As of October 13, the Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2 is on sale on Amazon for $429, down from the standard price of $799. That’s a 46% discount and the lower that we have ever seen on Amazon.

The Gen 2 version of the Anker Solix C1000 is a refined and stylish version of the original Solix C1000, which I loved during testing. The Gen 2 has some notable improvements and perhaps the most impressive is its reload time. With a Guinness World Record for recharge speed, the Solix C1000 Gen 2 can go from dead to 100% power in just 49 minutes. That means you can forget it’s dead and recharge it before you leave for the weekend camping trip.

Anker also added some improvements to the overall weight and size of the Gen 2. It’s smaller and lighter than the original Solix C1000 and impressively weighs just under 25 pounds. The Gen 2 also features better USB-C ports, as two of the three can handle 140W. The original C1000 maxes out at 100W for USB-C. The new Gen 2 also features an updated LCD screen that is super easy to use.

To reduce weight and size, Anker removed some Gen 2 features that I love from the original Solix C1000. It is missing the light bar, which I think is great for both camping and carrying the power station around the house during a power outage. But if you have other light sources, this might not be a deal breaker.

The new Solix C1000 Gen 2 also lacks expandability. You can pair the original with an extra battery to double the capacity, but the Gen 2 is stuck with its permanent 1,024Wh as it lacks the guts and port to accept an extra battery. Again, this may not be entirely acceptable to some people and is not necessarily a downgrade. On the other hand, the Gen 2 has a higher maximum power of 3000W.

The current retail price of $429 puts the Gen 2 in line with the current retail price of the original C1000, which is $429.99. Which model best suits your needs depends on whether you prioritize a lightweight model with super-fast charging and two 140W USB-C ports. If you want a light bar and an extra AC port, the original might be your best option.

In any case, both Solix C1000 models are on sale for less than $430 on Amazon. This marks the lowest price ever in Gen 2 and since fall storms could strike at any time, it is wise to prepare.
