I have been an “pro” iPhone person for years, almost every year. In addition to a short period as an iPhone 13 user, I have chosen the iPhone Pro option every year that the company has offered one.
And it wasn’t just for the iPhone. He also used to be the owner of Macbook Pro, Apple Watch Ultra (not technically professional, but you know what I mean), the AirPods Pro, the iPad Pro, if Apple slapped a professional with the name, that was the one who was buying.
However, over the years, the regular versions of Apple products began to gain many of the characteristics of the pro versions. First, the sixth generation iPad arrived, which beat me as a reading device. Then came the M2 MacBook Air, which moved me away from my Intel Macbook Pro.
Today, after announcing the iPhone 16, I think Apple is making me admit that I am no longer what the company would consider a “professional” user.
I’m degrading alone on behalf
After seeing all the features announced with the iPhone 16: Apple Intelligence, the Chamber capture button, the action button and the characteristics of the camera, I realized that the characteristics offered on the iPhone 16 Pro as pro motion, always on display and the further crazy camera characteristics were not things that I would really use or feel justified to spend the additional $ 200.
The iPhone 16 is great. In fact, I prefer how aluminum keeps titanium spots, since my iPhone 15 Pro has become stained on all sides. The normal iPhone is also smaller and lighter, two things that I appreciate having loved the iPhone 13 Mini. Nor am I a photographer or cameraman who will ever come to use the characteristics that include the iPhone 16 Pro system system.
Then, although I plan to degrade on behalf of and characteristics, change from an iPhone Pro to a normal iPhone will actually feel like an update for me. I will save money and get a phone that best suits what I use. I will also feel less anxious to break it in bits, since it is a little less premium.
The iPhone 16 is not the only place where I am thinking of degrading a professional. I am also considering lowering the Apple Watch Ultra 2 to Apple Watch series. It is once again a case of obtaining almost all the characteristics that matter to me in a more affordable and lighter option: things I appreciate.
After the next week, it could be that the only Pro Apple product I retain is the Airpods Pro. While Apple came out with Airpods 4 and brought noise cancellation to regular headphones, it seems that noise cancellation on Airpods Pro 2 is still much better. As someone who uses my Airpods Pro 2 on the plane to cut the engine noise (and go, are they good), I will stay with them for now?
Apart from that, however, I think it’s time to admit that I am no longer a professional user, and that’s fine.
