If you have a pair of Airpods Pro 2, you must have a new firmware update to enjoy (once iOS 18 unfolds next week).
Apple has launched a new firmware update for Airpods Pro 2. Firmware version 7A294 replaces version 6F8 and is available for USB-C and Lightning versions of wireless headphones. Unlike previous betas, this update is available for all Airpods Pro users.
The update probably brings with it the usual round of errors corrections and performance improvements along with a series of characteristics that come with iOS 18 when it is launched to all on Monday, September 16.
iOS 18 brings new features to Airpods Pro 2
The first feature now available on Airpods Pro 2 through the firmware (once its iPhone is running iOS 18) is Siri Interactions, the new feature that allows you to shake or nod with your head to interact with Siri’s ads while using your headphones. As Apple explains, “Siri interactions allow users to respond or discard calls, interact with messages, manage notifications and much more, not to speak.”
Voice Aislation is also available with iOS 18, which Apple is bringing directly to the headphones after originally launching the function on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. The company says: “Automatic learning, which is executed in the H2 chip on Airpods Pro and the iPhone, iPad or Mac matched, isolated and improves the quality of the voice while removing a significant background Call, for the listener. “
The last characteristic now available through the firmware update is the personalized space audio with a dynamic monitoring of the head for the games. While that is also reaching Airpods 3 and Airpods Max, the company is reserving “improved voice quality, including the 16 -bit audio and 48 kHz” for games with Airpods Pro 2.
Airpods Pro 2 also obtains a series of new health features this fall, including the ability to use headphones as a clinical degree. You can also take a hearing test and get a completely custom audio profile.
