Smart pending and necklaces? Samsung is investigating new wearable types

Samsung already offers a long list of products in its mobile portfolio, including smartphones, tablets and more. Even so, the company is looking for ways to expand its mobile offers. To that end, the company sees create new types of portable devices as its opportunity to grow.

While talking with CNNThe director of Operations of the Samsung Mobile Experience Division, Won-Joon Choi, told The Outlet that AI could allow a new wave of devices that do not require that you take out your phone. Samsung imagines that this wave of devices will be new types of portable devices that you still have to explore, as something that places around your neck, use in your ears or get on your face.

In the interview, Choi states:

We believe it should be portable, something you should not carry, (which) you don’t need to carry. Therefore, it could be something you use, glasses, earrings, watches, rings and sometimes (a) necklace.

We are already seeing Samsung follow this train of thought with Project Haean. As a review, Project Haean is the code name of smart glasses with Android XR that the company is currently developing. It is expected that Haean can be launched at the end of this year, together with the Samsung Moohan XR headphones project.

Outside the smart glasses, you may wonder what the most is considering the technological giant. Currently, Samsung is “looking at all kinds of possibilities,” Choi replied when asked if the company is actively looking for smart jewels. “What do you wear? Glasses, earrings … necklaces, watches and rings, something like them,” Choi said.

While other companies have tried to create AI products designed to replace their phone, such as human or rabbit R1, that will not be the approach that Samsung adopts. According to reports, the company wants its new portable devices to be a partner of your phone, instead of an independent replacement or device.
